About

Age: unknown
Skills: Former script editor for Richard Attenborough and David Puttnam

I am a novelist, screenwriter and artist. I was the Founding Director of the Harwich Film Festival and produced a silent sound screen performance of 'Lucky Star (Borzage/USA) at the Royal Festival Hall in 2001. I have worked in the Netherlands, France and Hungary and believe passionately in truly European film - despite being British.

The film – which is an animated deconstruction from a piece of contemporary amateur news footage, uses a historic soundtrack of nightingales singing over the background sound of an approaching Bomber. The sound was recorded in 1942 on the Sussex Downs.

However, the imagery is of a much more recent event, which was tragic and soon became iconic. I have deliberately deconstructed the footage into a flowing abstract design. The same sequence is repeated over and again, insisting on further contemplation, yet denying us a context.
