About

Age: 41
Skills: Trained journalist and filmmaker

IOANA JOCA is a trained journalist and filmmaker. After high-school graduation, she immigrated to Germany where, supported by the European Commission, she coordinated for over 1 year an international film-festival.

After completion of this job, Ioana received a grant from the same Commission with which she wrote and directed her film-debut, the documentary “The Grandparents”. The film was awarded two BAFTA—nominations and received a very good media coverage.

Upon return to Romania, Ioana worked for almost one year in audio-video production: first, for various advertising companies, then with the team of 20th Century Fox at the horror-movie “Mirrors” (starring Kiefer Sutherland).
Between 2008--2011, Ioana worked for the entertainment conglomerate “Media Pro”– as sales executive. It was during this time she realized that, with her work experience and the film and media know-how, it was the perfect time to start her own business, the NGO “JJ Films & Culture”.

“Good morning, night!” represents Ioana’s debut into fiction.
