AGORAPHOBIA Cezara, a 20-year-old Romanian waitress employee slowly starts acknowledging her disturbing routine. She finds herself in a trigger point of her life where the docile social awkwardness transforms into agoraphobia and takes over. About Agoraphobia Agoraphobia is a type of anxiety disorder. A person with agoraphobia is afraid to leave environments they know or consider to be safe. In severe cases, a person with agoraphobia considers their home to be the only safe environment. Typically, agoraphobia often starts off as a mild anxiety about a particular event, place or situation that escalates over time into a generalized fear of being in public.The symptoms and signs of agoraphobia may include:Symptoms of significant anxiety and sometimes a panic attack such as breathlessness, sweating, dizziness, fast heart rate, sensation of choking and feelings of extreme fear or dread. Low self-esteem and loss of self-confidence. Made by Mette Mikkelsen and Andreas Felfoss Bargmann, the short film won the Grand Prize in the 2012 Autumn edition of the Aarhus Short Film Challenge. The film was based on the topics Time and Passion. The Aarhus Short Film Challenge is an international event that is centred in Aarhus, Denmark. Participants have 7 days to make a short film that is up to 5 minutes long and based on two randomly chosen topics. The films are then evaluated by a jury of three film professionals. The Autumn 2012 edition theme was Time, and the jury members were: Richard Raskin, Associate Professor Aarhus University, Department of Information and Media Studies, World’s foremost short film expert; Carsten Holst, general Manager at Filmby Aarhus and Den Vestdanske Filmpulje at Filmby Aarhus, producer of more than 30 titles, has worked with Lars Von Trier; Merete Stubkjær, Producing Chief and Producer at Deluca Film A/S; and Ann Pedersen, Script editor and director, covering various genres within Tv and film, ranging from BBC to feature films, documentaries and short films.
