Kino Kabaret Malmö
KinoKabaret Malmö 2009
The Swedish NISI MASA association Nisi Mini were asked to organise an event for young filmmakers during the 26th BUFF Film Festival in Malmö. They decided to invite Austrian Kino5 to help host a 24h KinoKabaret.
The concept of KinoKabaret was developed by the Kino-movement which has its origin in Montreal. A Kabaret is basically a time limited filmmaking session and the motto is "Do well with nothing, do better with little and do it now!" Participants can be directors, cameramen, actors, musicians, editors etc. Professionals and amateurs. Everybody brings whatever equipment they have and then you work from that.
This time filmmakers from 8 different NISI MASA countries were invited, and together with local Swedish participants they managed to produce 7 short films in little less than 24 hours – that's a speed record for Kabarets which are usually 48 or 60 hours long. The films were all screened at the BUFF Festival and if you missed it you can watch them all here!
