Matter of Taste - call for films

NISI MASA – the network of young cinema is organising an audiovisual project designed to make the European public reflect on our changing dietary habits, and how these are both the cause and effect of wider cultural shifts.
We are now calling for European short films on the topic of "food and culture"!
Upload your short film here on Daazo before the 15th of May 2009, and if it is selected you will be invited to present and discuss your work during a 5-day programme of screenings and culinary events at the Lago Film Fest in Northern Italy (between 24th and 30th July).
In addition, your film will get even more exposure, being screened in an additional European city and included on an official (non-commercial) DVD.
Films must be in English or in any other language with English subtitles. They must be of maximum length 12 minutes, and should be linked to one of the following 3 sub-themes:
'A Matter of Taste'
- The ideas, attitudes and cultural values linked to food
- Cultural diversity, traditions, and the standardisation of tastes
- Gastronomy, fine cuisine, fusion food
'Table Manners'
- How & where do we eat?
- Public health: dieting v. overindulgence, nutritional science, etc
- Consumer trends – e.g. organic, fair trade
'Lands of Plenty'
- Industrialisation, globalisation, mass production
- Environmental issues
- The human side: who makes our food?
IMPORTANT: In order to complete the submissions process you must also send one DVD copy of your film, clearly labelled with the title of the film, the director, and contact details, to the following address:
